Hermosa Beach
Summer is here and there is no better place to celebrate and enjoy than in one of the most iconic beach towns in the world, our own Hermosa Beach. From summer concerts to illustrious athletic contests to unrivaled beach volleyball, here are some of the “must-sees” on our radar this summer that make Hermosa, well, Hermosa.
50 Years of Ironman
Every 4th of July for the past 50 years, Hermosa Beach has hosted its own version of an Ironman – now an iconic annual tradition that is being commemorated at the Hermosa Beach Museum. Showcasing five decades of this legendary event, the exhibit opens on Friday, June 30 at 5:00pm and will continue through September 29. See how it all began and enjoy photos, memorabilia, and a special-edition coffee table book by local photographer Chris Miller.

Summer Concerts at the Pier
If you saw our post on summer concerts (here, in case you missed it), you know that the Hermosa Summer Concert Series begins on July 4 at the Pier with a performance by ZZ Ward and continues every Sunday thereafter from 5:00pm – 8:00pm through the month of August. End your weekend with a free outdoor concert as the sun sets over the Pacific. For more info: www.hermosalocal.com/summer-concerts-are-back.
AVP Hermosa Beach Open
The AVP returns to the Hermosa Pier on July 5, where amateurs and pros alike compete for gold amongst rising stars and current legends. Since the inaugural tournament in 1984, Hermosa Beach has remained a favorite stop for both players and spectators on the tour. International Surf Festival
One of the most notable annual events in the South Bay - the International Surf Festival - takes place August 4-6 and features the Junior Lifeguard Taplin Relay, the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier swim, and the 6-Man Beach Volleyball Tournament, to name a few. Participants of all ages are encouraged to compete, and the costumes (and shenanigans) at the 6-Man are always something to see. Don’t miss it! For all the info: www.surffestival.org.
