If you’re like three quarters of the population these days, Thanksgiving is just another day. Why deal with a ten-pound turkey when you can jump right into December? After all, “Jingle Bells” is already on every station and the neighbors have once again beaten you to the punch by stringing their lights the day after Halloween. (That said, we love Thanksgiving – bring on the stretchy pants!) To make sure you enjoy every aspect of the season for as long as humanly possible, here is a list of the best holiday traditions the South Bay has to offer. We love it all and hope you enjoy the holiday season with your favorite friends and family!
Annual Pier Lighting and Holiday Open House – Manhattan Beach ☃️
Bundle up and bring the kids for this beloved holiday tradition in downtown Manhattan Beach, November 16, from 5:00pm until 9:00. Local shops will be decked out and keeping their doors open late, offering the opportunity to get a jump on your shopping. Don’t miss the live reindeer, special treats at select stores, and the famous hot chocolate station at Skechers - get there early – the line can be long but it’s worth the wait! End the night with a jaunt down the Strand to the iconic pier, where the lights will be aglow for the season atop our historic Roundhouse Aquarium.
Hermosa for the Holidays 🎄
From November 18th through the 20th, gather with your crew in festive downtown Hermosa Beach for special holiday events including music, shopping, dining, a tree-lighting event, and lots of family-friendly activities. Who knows, you might even catch a glimpse of ol’ St. Nick!
Santa Stroll 🎅🏻
Join us on December 10th at 9:00am as we stroll along the Strand from Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach and back. Work off that turkey dinner while getting in the holiday spirit and reward yourself with your favorite hot beverage and breakfast after getting in your steps.
Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks 🎇
Every year, Manhattan Beach hosts one of the best fireworks displays on the planet. Don your favorite winter coat (gay apparel, check) and bring your beach chairs and blankets to the Manhattan Beach Pier on Sunday, December 11 at 7:00pm for a holiday celebration that is truly next level. The fireworks are synched with your favorite holiday tunes and expertly displayed to a cheering crowd. This is one of the best ways to ring in the season. See you there!
Wishing you and yours a safe and happy holiday!
