Pier Lighting and Open House – Manhattan Beach – November 15
Tonight’s the night! Marking the official start of the holiday season in Manhattan Beach, the annual Holiday Open House and Pier Lighting will take place from 5pm until 9pm. Bundle up the kids and plan to meet your besties downtown, where the shops and restaurants are open late and offer treats, live entertainment, and a chance to get a jump start on your holiday shopping. Don’t miss the lighting of the pier at 7 o’clock sharp! You might even get the chance to see Santa and a few of his reindeer friends.
Hermosa for the Holidays – November 18-19
This Saturday and Sunday, the third annual Hermosa for the Holidays kicks off the season in style. Downtown Hermosa Beach will come alive with holiday music, carnival rides, local shopping, and a special tree lighting ceremony. Don’t miss the Rock for Tots on Saturday night, or the wreath making and tree lighting on Sunday. Santa himself will be on hand for pictures and wish-granting, so get there early and enjoy the festivities!
Sandpipers’ Holiday Homes Tour – December 1-3
An annual tradition beloved by locals for 31 years, the Sandpipers’ Holiday Homes Tour showcases select South Bay homes beautifully decorated for the holiday season by local interior designers. This year’s tour will begin at the Neptunian Women’s Club and features a Holiday Boutique and Café. All proceeds go to Sandpipers, a 100% volunteer organization serving those in need in the South Bay. This event often sells out, so purchase tickets today at www.sandpipers.org/holiday-homes-tour.
King Harbor Holiday Boat Parade – December 9
Bring your family and friends to King Harbor Marina to enjoy a spectacle of lights and music on the water for the annual King Harbor Holiday Boat Parade. Boats decked out in holiday finery will parade through the marina to the delight of onlookers young and old. The best viewing locations are the Portofino Hotel and Moonstone Park, so get there early to get the best seat. Parade begins at 5:30pm and will last until 8:00.
Holiday Fireworks – Downtown Manhattan Beach
A holiday tradition cherished by generations of MB locals for 32 years, there truly is no fireworks show quite like this one. On Sunday, December 10, Skechers famous Snow Park and Bounce Park will be moved to Live Oak Park (see www.downtownmanhattanbeach.com for details), while carolers and Santa get things started downtown at 3pm. Fireworks start at 7pm, so bring your blankets and beach chairs to get a good view, and enjoy the show!
