The most useful way to read the Palos Verdes Peninsula calendar this summer is by day, not by venue.
As of July 15, the remaining schedule forms a clear progression. Wednesday is the free neighborhood concert. Thursday is the ticketed garden evening. Friday and Saturday belong to oceanfront music, with Sunday reserved for the farmers’ market and select concerts at Lunada Bay Park.
Monday and Tuesday can stay open.
That distinction matters. A search for things to do Palos Verdes summer 2026 returns plenty of individual dates. What residents need is a repeatable plan that removes the weekly debate over where to go and how much coordination it will require.
The Peninsula week at a glance
| Day | Reliable anchor | Timing | Planning level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday and Tuesday | Keep the calendar open | Flexible | None |
| Wednesday | Malaga Cove Concerts in the Park | 6:30 to about 7:30 p.m. | Free, bring seating |
| Thursday | South Coast Botanic Garden Sunset Series | Standard entry at 5:30 p.m. | Ticket required |
| Friday and Saturday | Terranea Sound Series | Doors at 6 p.m., music from 7 to 10 p.m. | Ticket required |
| Sunday | Palos Verdes Certified Farmers’ Market | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Drop in |
| Select Sundays | LBHOA Summer Concert Series | 4 to 6 p.m. | Bring seating |
The commitment rises as the week moves forward. Wednesday asks for a chair and perhaps a picnic. Thursday requires a ticket and an earlier start. Friday and Saturday become a full evening. Sunday resets the pattern with a morning market and, on two remaining dates, an afternoon concert.
Wednesday is the easiest yes
The Malaga Cove Summer Concert Series is the week’s lowest-friction plan. Concerts at Farnham Martin Park begin at 6:30 p.m. and generally finish around 7:30 p.m., which leaves room for an evening out without turning it into a late night.
The remaining 2026 schedule is:
- July 15: Drift Away, rhythm and blues
- July 22: Woodie & The Longboards, Eagles program
- July 29: John Brown Band, 1960s and 1970s hits
- August 5: Tenn West, pop and country
- August 12: Rhythm Rangers, country and western
Admission is free, with a voluntary suggested donation of $10 per adult. The local details are what make the evening run smoothly. Blankets may be placed after 7 a.m. on concert Wednesday, low-back chairs are preferred, and Malaga Cove Library restrooms remain open during the performance. Dogs and smoking are prohibited in the park area.
This is the dependable option for a casual gathering. There is no ticket decision, and the one-hour format makes it easy to build dinner before or after the music.
Thursday turns the outing into an occasion
The South Coast Botanic Garden Sunset Series takes the same outdoor-music idea and adds more structure. The series continues every Thursday through August 27, with standard entry at 5:30 p.m. and VIP entry at 5 p.m.
General-public admission is $21. VIP admission is $42. Guests can explore the Garden after hours, listen to live music, buy food and drinks, play lawn games and use the Kids Zone. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.
The remaining lineup changes the character of each week:
- July 16: Santana Night with Smooth Sounds of Santana
- July 23: ’90s Pop Rewind with Radio Ready
- July 30: ABBA Night with The fABBA Show
- August 6: Selena and Shakira Night with Tejano Queen Forever
- August 13: Prince Night with The Purple Generation
- August 20: Surf’s Up Night with The Royal Rats
- August 27: Modern Country Night with Zach Michael Band featuring Chelsea Sanchez
Wednesday works when the plan needs to stay simple. Thursday works when the evening should feel more considered. The ticket, earlier arrival and on-site food service ask for more coordination, but they also create a defined night out without leaving the Peninsula.
Friday and Saturday have a standing oceanfront option
By the weekend, the schedule shifts to Nelson’s Sunset Bluff. Terranea’s 2026 Sound Series continues every Friday and Saturday through August 29.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and live music runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Public general admission is $30 before food, beverages, service charge, tax and processing fees. Resort guests and children 13 and younger receive complimentary admission.
Remaining Friday performances
- The Reel Band on July 17
- The New Originals on July 24
- Coriander on July 31
- Coriander on August 7
- 80’s All Starz on August 14
- Yachtzee on August 21
- Cassie B on August 28
Remaining Saturday performances
- Cassie B on July 18
- Woodie & The Long Boards on July 25
- KAYLYN on August 1
- Remix on August 8
- Neil Morrow on August 15
- Wayward Son on August 22
- Astro Yachts on August 29
There is a useful local thread running through these calendars. Woodie & The Longboards appears at both Malaga Cove and Terranea, while Tenn West performs at Malaga Cove and returns for a Lunada Bay date. The schedule feels connected because several performers move between familiar Peninsula settings rather than appearing as isolated bookings.
Sunday works best as a two-part day
The Palos Verdes Certified Farmers’ Market is the most reliable Sunday anchor. It runs year-round from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 27118 Silver Spur Road, the Peninsula High School location in Rolling Hills Estates.
Produce, flowers and eggs are sold by growers, and market sales support Palos Verdes schools. Unlike the evening series, the market does not require advance planning. It can be the main stop or the first part of a longer Sunday.
Two remaining dates extend that rhythm into the afternoon at Lunada Bay Park:
- August 2: Tenn West
- August 30: Wall of Sound
The August 2 performance was added after the Lunada Bay Homeowners Association received requests for more live music. Both remaining concert dates run from 4 to 6 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. The LBHOA calendar is the best place to confirm details before heading over.
The dates that break the weekly pattern
The recurring schedule does most of the work, but several one-off events deserve their own calendar reminders.
Saturday, July 18: Rolling Hills Estates hosts a free Concert in the Park from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ernie Howlett Park. Radio Royalty is performing, and Kona Ice will sell shaved ice. Blankets and lawn chairs are allowed. Alcohol, canopies, umbrellas and easy-ups are prohibited.
Saturday, August 8: Rancho Palos Verdes screens Hoppers at the Ken Dyda Civic Center. Activities begin at 7 p.m., with the movie starting at dusk, approximately 15 minutes after sunset. Bring a blanket or low-slung chair. A food truck is planned.
Saturday, August 22: Pulp Vixen brings Top 40 hits to the Ken Dyda Civic Center from 4 to 6 p.m. The city lists food trucks and a beer-and-wine booth. Chairs and blankets are recommended.
One date should come off the calendar. Rancho Palos Verdes now marks the July 25 Electric Vinyl concert as canceled, even though an earlier city announcement still lists it. The current city calendar should take precedence.
Daytime plans can stay flexible
Not every summer day needs to lead toward a concert.
Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: A Field Study at South Coast Botanic Garden includes 12 new sculptures made from reclaimed wood. The exhibit is included with general Garden admission. Guided Troll Treks run Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Tiny Troll Treks run at 10:30 a.m. on weekends, while mobility rides are offered Thursdays and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.
The Palos Verdes Library District’s all-ages Summer Challenge continues through August 8. Reading, outdoor exploration, exercise, volunteering, learning and library programs can all count toward participation.
The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy also has several remaining guided outings, including White Point Nature Preserve on July 18, a White Point garden tour on July 25, George F Canyon on August 1, a bird walk on August 5 and Abalone Cove Reserve on August 8.
Trail plans require a current conditions check. Rancho Palos Verdes reports that the overall Nature Preserve is open, but Abalone Cove Beach, Sacred Cove Beach and all beach-access trails in Abalone Cove Reserve remain closed until further notice. Several routes in Portuguese Bend, Filiorum, Forrestal and Ocean Trails reserves are also temporarily closed. Review the city’s live trail conditions and alerts before choosing a route.
A better way to plan the rest of summer
The Peninsula’s strongest summer feature this year is not any single event. It is the way the calendar now supports different levels of effort.
Choose Wednesday when the group needs an easy answer. Reserve Thursday for a ticketed evening at the Garden. Use Friday or Saturday for music at Nelson’s Sunset Bluff. Keep Sunday morning open for the farmers’ market, then add Lunada Bay when the concert dates align.
That leaves Monday and Tuesday free for everything a good summer schedule still needs: room to change plans.
